Great to have you participating on our pilot! For one week,
you will try out what it feels like to sit on our smart cushion
while working. On this page we will guide you through
the process.

1 GETTING READY
UPLOAD A PHOTO OF YOUR DESK CHAIR
We would like to know how well our
sensor works on different types of chairs
#1. UNZIP IT
The software is downloaded as a ZIP file. By clicking the right mouse button, you can select 'extract file' (to desktop).
#2. SAVE TO DESKTOP
​In the RAR or UNZIP menu you can select the Desktop as the file to extract the ZIP file to the Desktop.
#3. IAM RESEARCH TOOL
In the file, you will find the software named 'IAM research tool' (with floppy disk icon). Double click this file for opening the software.

2 DAILY ROUTINE
CONNECT SMART CUSHION
Connect the Smart Cushion at the start of every working day.
Put the USB cable of the Smart Cushion into your Windows laptop.

Select the COM port which appears on the left. Press the 'Select' button.

When you sit on the sensor, your activity (sitting or standing) should appear in the top center of the program.
​
When you haven't connected to the sensor the software will show the message "Awaiting Connection..." If you have multiple USB devices connected, you might want to disconnect, refresh and try another port. When you have successfully connected to the sensor the software will show the message "Recording..."
WEAR THE CHEST BAND
Every morning at the start of the working day, you will need to place the chest band around your chest. You turn the chest sensor on and off by connecting/disconnecting it from the strap.

To start a recording from the home/time screen, press the middle button on the Polar Smart Watch once to select the program 'Running' and then another time to start the recording.
At the end of the working day you stop the recording by pressing and holding the lower left button for at least 3 seconds.

In case the watch runs out of energy (might be after 1 or 2 days), you can charge it with the added micro USB cable.
ANSWERING QUESTIONS
On the right of the software program are 5 types of inquires. You can open
them by clicking the buttons on the right. Start with 'Start of Research'.
The three below are to be filled in on a daily basis.
The software program automatically stores the results of the inquires in
excel files at the end of the day in the file you installed to your desktop.

​Conclude the research on the end of day 5 with the End of Questionnaire
3 END OF RESEARCH
UPLOAD YOUR DATA
After 5 working days of testing, we would like to receive your recordings. Automatically after installing our software program, your recordings got saved inside the "IAM Research Tool" folder you installed to your Desktop.
Open "IAM Research Tool" file
Open file "DATA"
Upload every .csv file

Let us know the number of your sensor and press the send button. In case you have more files to send, refresh the page and send the next batch.
